FAQ

How do you teach a child compared to an adult?

We run bespoke swimming sessions as we recognise everyone is different and has a different learning style. We include in our programs 3 main variables-:

1. Psysiological- children vs adults- ankle , shoulder, hip flexibility, physical composition (muscular or slim physique), then we consider

2.Psychological and motor variables such as self-esteem, previous experience, motivation, feedback, communication, language

3. Preferred teaching style children vs adults

Do you discount your fees for children?

Whilst we take into consideration variables when we teach children versus adults as specified above, we teach the same methodology to both adults and children and some children may be more challenging than adults. We do not lower our teaching standards when teaching children, our teachers add more effort, therefore our fees are the same across for adults and children learn to swim programs.

When can I sign up for lessons?

Anytime! Our swim lessons are continuous rather than session based. We believe that a consistent approach to swimming is important for swim skill development and water safety awareness hence we do bespoke individual sessions and small groups of maximum of 3 students.

What shall I bring for the swim session?

Swimsuit in which you feel comfortable, goggles and a bottle of water. A towel and a set of dry clothes for you change after the session. Please note we do not use floaties, therefore there is no need to purchase any.

How do I register?

You can select your swimming package online by checking our calendar for available slots OR just send us an enquiry with your requirements and desired program. We will follow up with a phone call.

Is it ok to swim if I have a medical condition?

It is usually possible to swim with most medical conditions, lessons can be adapted to suit the needs of swimmers. It isn’t advisable to swim after surgery or if you have any wounds on your body. Prior to starting lessons we’d love to discuss any medical needs with you, and potentially you will need approval from your doctor. Speak to us and we can work that out with you!

Where required, medicine can be kept on poolside (inhalers, epipens etc), and the person (parent or guardian) responsible for administering the medicine should also stay close. If your child is able to administer their own medicine please let us know.

Do you teach children / adults with special needs?

Yes, currently we are the only swimming school in Sri Lanka to provide swimming classes for people with disabilities or special needs through international trained Coaches in special needs.

Special needs classes are tailored to the individual’s needs and focused on what is achievable and on building from this very positive approach.

The benefits of swimming include improved strength and flexibility, enhanced muscular stamina, stronger cardio-vascular system and social skills. Our main aim is to build confidence and provide an environment where the pupil can feel independent through free movement in the water, which may not be achievable outside of the pool.

Through empathy, enthusiasm and understanding each individual we gain trust, creating an atmosphere that is relaxed and positive, promoting a feeling of well being, fun and enjoyment.
